The sound does remind one of the band's Irish / Canadian roots, melodies and chorus guitars remeniscient of My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Swervedriver and other "shoegazer" bands. The disc has a lot of very contagious melodies, making the songs memorable (you know how sometimes these bands will just blend everything into everything else - all in a search for oneness, I suppose). Sprites, for example has a good balance between musically melodic and lyrically interesting - Darragh Nolan, the main lyricist, definitely has insight into the affairs of human nature and the pains of a conscience-laden heart. Overall I would recommend this disc to anyone searching out something of lyrical depth but not overly dismal - there is always the reminder of a spark of intelligence throughout the work.
